FENTO KNEE PROTECTION

As an installation engineer, Paul Willems spends a lot of his time on his knees. For the past few weeks, he has been using the FENTO ORIGINAL: an ergonomically developed knee protector. The FENTO ORIGINAL protects the user’s knees and distributes pressure to alleviate the back.

Paul: “I’m currently working on a floor heating project. We’re going to 21 different houses, where we have to install three floor heating units in each house. I do that work while kneeling, and while using heavy tools. So when it all adds up, I basically spend all day on my knees!”

Knee protection

“At Van Hoften Installatietechniek, we work with a digital ordering system for company clothing and personal protective equipment. In exchange for a certain number of points, we get to put together our own personal gear,” Paul explains. “I used to have knee protectors in my work trousers butI didn’t really like them because they moved around a lot. But I’ve been using the FENTO ORIGINAL knee protectors for a few weeks now and I’m delighted with them!”

Paul: “I think it’s important to protect my knees. My dad used to do the same work, at a time when personal protective gear wasn’t standard. He had trouble with his knees for his entire working life. At one point, there was nothing left of his menisci!” With the FENTO ORIGINAL, Paul has no such trouble: “I’m stable, pain-free and the pressure is taken off my back!”

Oscar: “Back then, one of our founders, sailmaker René van Rijn, went to his physiotherapist Geert Kaal, our other founder, about his chronic knee problems. René’s symptoms went away, but then came back again. That was when he asked Geert: ‘Can you help me develop a knee protector that will allow me to keep working?’”

Oscar continues: “Five years later, the first model was ready for the market. Here we are with several different models seventeen years later!” In our development process, we aim for a knee protector that distributes the pressure over the knees as well as the calves. And furthermore, the FENTO is as light as a feather, breathable and durable.

Satisfied

Paul Willems is satisfied with his FENTO knee protectors: “The strap runs along my calves and doesn’t pinch behind the knees. I can order the inlay separately when it needs replacing, and I have more than enough room to move around when I get up to walk!”
